This year the Legion Slo-Pitch League has also graciously donated to the "Friends Of WH Day Elementary School" fundraising initiative which is currently ongoing.  The initiative is in support of the acquisition and construction of a brand new accessible playground at WH Day.

The old playground which had been erected with the original facility back in the 1980's had unfortunately run its course and as of the start of this school year was in disrepair surrounded by caution tape and orange construction fencing.

In contacting the school board parents of the fundraising committee were shocked to learn that the board no longer offers financial support for playground replacement.

Total cost for the playground is estimated at $50,000 and to date as of May 22^nd the committee had raised approximately $28,000 towards their goal.

In support of this initiative the Parents are also holding a Yuk Yuk's comedy night on June 14th 2014.  Tickets are $30, inclduing a dinner and dance with the show and a silent auction and can be purchased through the league via Darren Long 416-807-8749 or dvlong@me.com
